Knowledge is an important asset for organizations. Making the most value from employees’ knowledge is an important element of a resource-based strategy for engineering firms. Several organizations have started to implement knowledge management processes. One of the most challenging process is related to the knowledge generation and its linkage to innovation emergence.

There are several approaches in acquiring, storing and distributing knowledge. A general overview is given on how knowledge management processes can lead to innovative companies.

Dr. Bechina Arntzen is Professor at the University of South-East Norway. She is the vice-president of the Society for Design and Process Science (SDPS). She is the co-founder of the Institute for Knowledge and Innovation Management in South East Asia (Bangkok, Thailand). She is co-founder of the research group of “Advance of Cognitive Systems Engineering and data Science”. As independent consultant, she has been working with customers in Project management, training, Business process improvement, information and knowledge management systems. She has participated and coleadedseveral European projects. She served as an expert evaluator for the European commission and the Norwegian research council. She is author and co-author of several technical and scientific publications.
